Horsemanship Clinics of all sorts!
Various pictures and information from Women's Horsemanship Clinics in the past
These pictures were taken in Kansas at a Christian Women's Retreat. I was asked to do 2 days of Basic
Horsemanship demonstrations for the women there. The first day was all about the most basic of horse
care, grooming, saddling, health, etc. The second day was mounted on my mare, Jacky, doing
demonstrations and explaining the 4 sections of the horse, doing basic maneuvers with those parts
that all horses should be able to do, how to train them to do them, why they are necessary,
plus Q & A time.
Side pass at a trot
Introduction of whats to come;
some of my testimony on how I got
'here,' and my theory of horse
training: 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.
Demonstrating how to teach head
lowering on your horse and why it is
important and necessary for a calm and
obedient riding partner.
Training begins on the ground. Here I am
very lightly touching Jacky on her side where I
will place my heel when mounted. By
teaching her to move off the LIGHTEST touch,
she will be light while mounted. See her hind
foot moving off of my finger touch.
Teaching a horse to sidepass is
easy when you understand all
the parts and prepare your horse
on the ground first.
Here I am showing how willing and
obedient Jacky is to her cues: she is trotting
while sidepassing (also called two tracking,
but here Jacky was keeping a pretty straight
sideways line).
To have a horse that can lightly yield it's
hindquarters and shoulders independently of
each other, you can get perfect departures for
proper leads for a canter.
Horse Training According To The Gospel:
1 Corinthians 13: 4-7
Horse training is patient and kind. It is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. Horse training does not demand its own
way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. Horse training does not rejoice about injustice but
rejoices  whenever  the truth wins out. With horse training one never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful,
and endures  through every circumstance.
Horse training = Love.

I was pleased that many of the men there with their wives
attended my clinics! Many were horsemen in their own rights,
and complimented me with the work I've done with my mare!
